A professional touring musician and audio engineer since the late 1980’s, Nigel Ball has played the USA – performing at casinos, theaters and prestigious venues including Buddy Guy’s Legends and House of Blues, Chicago – alongside festivals in the USA, Europe and Asia.
Nigel has previously worked with multi-platinum producer Dito Godwin (Universal Records/Motley Crue/No Doubt), British Blues Awards winners Bex Marshall (House of Mercy Records), Will Johns (Big Bear Records/Sons of Cream) and Ian Siegal, Loz Netto (Atlantic Records/Sniff ‘n’ The Tears), Rolan Bolan (EC3 Records/Universal) and BMA award winner Paul Diello (Best Solo Artist 2010).
Nigel was bass guitarist and tour manager on the 2017 Rolan Bolan (Son of Marc Bolan – T-Rex) UK Tour for EC3 Records (an independent London label with distribution links through Universal Records).
Loz Netto regards Nigel as “an exceptional virtuoso and much sought-after session player.”
When performing solo, Nigel usually plays a set of a blend of original compositions, written over the last three decades and covers from the 1950’s to the present day.
His unique, self-taught guitar style borrows heavily from JJ Cale, Clapton and Knopfler, combining blistering lead lines and bass-infused rhythm guitar with well crafted lyrics and a bluesy, rock-edged vocal which reflects his many years of touring experience.
Late 2023 brings some exciting projects to the fore; Nigel is collaborating with some old musical friends on some new material and has a solo originals EP and covers album (An Evening With Aunt Bessie), currently streaming exclusively through the artist’s YouTube channel.
Nigel is currently actively seeking session and deputy bass playing engagements in the UK and beyond and is currently re-establishing connection with previous UK clients, who have incorrectly assumed, due to his lack of presence in the UK due to touring commitments overseas for many years, that he is dead.
